Product information:

Our sets of rigid steel brake lines in heat-shrink tubing from the ZPHS series are made of high-quality ZISTA-07 class steel tubes, compliant with the PN-EN 10305-1:2016-05 standard and its newer versions.

Technical parameters:

  • Outer diameter of the tube: 4.75 mm
  • Wall thickness: 0.71 mm
  • Precision, seamless tubes with double walls.

Corrosion protection:

  • Zinc-coated tubes, externally painted with PVF coating and internally copper-coated,
  • Additionally, each line is equipped with a protective heat-shrink tubing that protects the tube from scratches during installation and improves its anti-corrosion properties for the future.

Strength:

  • Rigid steel brake lines can operate at working pressures up to 350 bar, and an additional safety factor x3.9 means the bursting pressure exceeds 1250 bar. For comparison, in a typical brake system, the maximum pressure reaches around 100 bar.

Installation:

  • Steel lines are characterized by greater rigidity compared to copper alternatives, but still retain adequate flexibility.
  • The tube stiffens during profiling, so care should be taken during processing to avoid the need for corrections.
  • For profiling steel lines, it is recommended to use the GR-01 bender. Using tools where the tube is pulled through guides can damage its protective layers.

Ready-to-install set:

  • The lines in our set are ready for installation - they have the appropriate fittings, and the ends have the correct size and thread pitch. Each line is custom-made and marked with a location, which significantly speeds up installation.
  • The dimensions of the lines are precisely matched based on the vehicle manufacturer's technical specifications. Additionally, our technical department verifies the correctness of the part set selection based on the VIN number, ensuring maximum accuracy and minimizing the risk of discrepancies between catalog data and the actual vehicle condition.

High-quality zinc-coated ends:

  • The line ends in ZPHS sets are made of zinc-coated, high-quality automatic steel, providing high corrosion resistance. Each end is a product of Polish production, guaranteeing the highest quality and compliance with European standards.
  • Also available are ZPHS/M - ZPHS/I versions made with brass or stainless steel ends.

Installation and profiling:

  • The lines are delivered in coils, properly protected during transport. Before installation, they require profiling. This can be done using a bender, but a skilled mechanic can also handle it without specialized tools.
  • The product is intended for professional use. Service activities should only be performed by a qualified specialist.

Summary:

  • Rigid steel brake lines in heat-shrink tubing are an excellent solution for customers looking for high-quality products that will help maintain the vehicle in accordance with factory standards. They guarantee durability, reliability, and aesthetics, ensuring years of trouble-free operation.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Choose copper ZPHM or steel ZPHS?

1. What are the advantages of steel brake lines compared to copper?

  • Steel lines are characterized by higher mechanical strength and durability, making them the preferred choice for new vehicles and applications requiring exceptional durability.
  • Corrosion coatings effectively protect the lines from moisture, road salt, and other harmful atmospheric factors, providing long-lasting protection and reliability.

2. What are the disadvantages of steel brake lines compared to copper?

  • Steel lines require more processing - fittings and flaring require the use of specialized tools and higher skills.
  • Profiling and installation are more difficult than with copper, so replacement is recommended for experienced mechanics.
  • The higher time required for installation also means higher replacement costs.

3. How do steel lines surpass copper?

Sets of rigid steel brake lines are characterized by higher mechanical strength and are used by most manufacturers for so-called first assembly. These lines are made of double-walled steel tubes, internally copper-coated, zinc-coated and painted on the outside. At PHU DONOCIK, for increased corrosion resistance, we use additional protective heat-shrink tubing. Steel lines are a premium product for demanding customers who want to maintain the factory quality of the vehicle for long-term use. Steel brake lines can also be made with brass or stainless steel ends.

4. What are the disadvantages of copper lines?

  • Copper tubing is less mechanically durable than steel tubing, but its strength parameters significantly exceed the loads typical for brake systems (the minimum bursting pressure is 7 times higher than that in the brake system).
  • Copper can also react electrochemically with steel ends or aluminum components, which over time can make disassembly difficult. For this reason, copper lines are mainly intended for "single use," and there is a high probability of damaging the line during disassembly - and after each rigid line disassembly, it is recommended to make new flares. (to eliminate this problem, you can use our ends made of brass or stainless steel)

5. Summary:

  • Both types of lines provide long-lasting and safe operation of the brake system. The choice of material type depends on the user's preferences: copper lines are an economical, easy-to-install solution ideal for older vehicles, while steel is an option for customers who value durability and factory quality for years to come.
